🧊 Oklahoma Hail Report: A Year in Review (2024–2025)

By Elevated Roofing and Restoration | Oklahoma City | April 2025

If you’ve lived in Oklahoma for any length of time, you know one thing for certain — hail season is no joke. Over the past year, storms across the state brought powerful hail events that caused widespread damage to homes, vehicles, and businesses.

At Elevated Roofing and Restoration, we’ve been on the ground throughout these events — inspecting, repairing, and restoring homes across Oklahoma City and beyond. Here’s a look back at the most significant hailstorms of the past year and what they mean for homeowners today.

🌩️ Major Hail Events in Oklahoma (April 2024 – April 2025)

May 6–7, 2024 – Central Oklahoma Hit Hard

A strong storm system produced hail from 1.00" to nearly 3" across the OKC metro, Norman, and surrounding areas. High winds and tornadoes added to the damage, overwhelming neighborhoods with roofing and siding destruction.

May 23, 2024 – Massive Hail in Southwest Oklahoma

A powerful supercell over Jackson County dropped 3.00” hailstones — some of the largest recorded all year. Roofs, vehicles, and windows were heavily damaged, and multiple tornadoes touched down nearby.

May 25, 2024 – Baseball-Sized Hail in Cordell

In Washita County, Cordell experienced severe hail up to baseball size. Though tornadoes didn’t form in this particular cell, the hail alone caused widespread roof and shingle damage.

May 25, 2024 (Evening) – Round Two for Central OK

Just hours later, severe weather returned to central Oklahoma, bringing 2.00” hail and 70+ mph winds to Garfield and Kingfisher Counties. Combined with earlier storms, this created one of the most damaging weekends of the year.

October 30, 2024 – Halloween Week Hail Threat

Even fall wasn’t quiet. A late-October front brought more hail risks and gusty storms through the Oklahoma City metro. Though not as intense, it served as a reminder that storm season can strike at any time.

📊 Hailstorm Stats: 2024–2025 Overview

  • Largest Hailstone: 3.00" (Jackson County – May 23)

  • Most Active Month: May 2024

  • Hardest-Hit Areas: OKC metro, Cordell, Norman, Jackson County

  • Estimated Property Damage: Hundreds of millions statewide
